BK Group CEO Diane Karusisi addresses guests at the official launch of BKreative in Kigali, an initiative aimed at positioning Rwanda's creative economy as a driver of national growth.

The official launch of BKreative has marked a defining moment for Rwanda’s creative industry, bringing together artists, policymakers, financiers and cultural leaders under one roof to reimagine creativity as a powerful driver of national economic growth.
The high energy event opened with a compelling live performance by local creatives, setting the tone for an evening that celebrated artistic expression while confronting the realities of sustainability in the sector. Musicians, content creators, comedians, curators and actors transformed the stage into a vibrant showcase of Rwanda’s creative talent and potential.
In her keynote address, BK Group CEO Diane Karusisi underscored both the challenges and opportunities shaping Rwanda’s creative economy, emphasising the urgent need for structured financial support, professionalisation and long term investment to enable creatives to turn talent into viable enterprises.
“Creativity is one of Rwanda’s most valuable resources. When paired with the right financial tools and institutional support, it can become a sustainable engine for economic growth and job creation,” she said.
A dynamic panel discussion followed, featuring industry leaders alongside creatives who explored how finance and creativity can work hand in hand. Panelists discussed access to capital, monetisation models, intellectual property protection and the importance of partnerships between financial institutions and creative professionals to unlock scalable growth across the sector.
The launch also drew government representatives and key stakeholders including Minister of State Sandrine Umutoni, whose attendance signalled growing public sector commitment to positioning the creative economy as a pillar of Rwanda’s development agenda.
As the evening concluded, one message resonated clearly. Rwanda’s creative industry is ready to move beyond passion projects into profitable, sustainable ventures. With platforms like BKreative fostering dialogue, financing and collaboration, creativity is increasingly being recognised not just as culture but as capital for the nation’s future.
